There is some concern that critical illness and its treatment during infancy and childhood may effect a child's long-term development. This study evaluates learning and memory of children who have been through a critical illness and mechanical ventilation.
We are inviting 500 RESTORE subjects back to a local clinic to complete paper and pencil testing after hospital discharge. We are also asking their brothers or sisters to participate so that we can have comparison information. Our goal is to increase our understanding of the relationship between being sick and treated in the PICU and long-term neurocognitive outcomes in infants and young children.
If you or your child participated in RESTORE when they were 2 weeks to 8 years of age please Amy Cassidy with any questions regarding RESTORE-Cognition at 215-898-4151 or acassidy@nursing.upenn.edu.
Testing is free and you will receive compensation for your time. Click here for a study flyer.
